Mawakana oversees the autonomous transportation company's strategy for adoption of Waymo Driver, which now powers fully autonomous ride-hailing service in the San Francisco Bay Area, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Austin, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Orlando. Now she's overseeing launches planned in Denver, Detroit, Las Vegas, and Washington, D.C., as well as international markets with the addition of London.
Waymo has served over 20 million trips to riders and is currently providing 400,000 paid rides per week across these markets. In November, Waymo began freeway trips across the San Francisco Bay Area, Phoenix, and Los Angeles. Mawakana led the establishment of a strategic partnership with Lyft in 2025, and extended partnerships with Uber and Moove to more cities over the past year. She also led 2025 partnership deals with DoorDash, Spotify and Avis.
