Standout achievement in 2025: Secured substantial funding for Equip that allowed her to scale the company's virtual platform for eating-disorder treatment to all 50 states.

Saffran — who suffered from anorexia as a teenager — co-founded Equip, which provides a virtual eating disorder treatment program, to focus on a sector historically overlooked by the insurance industry, policymakers, and investors. Equip is now the nation's largest virtual eating disorder treatment provider. Its treatment plan includes a medical provider, therapist, dietitian, peer mentor, and family mentor — a model that allows patients to recover at home.

The company doubled employees and added 13 major payor contracts in 2025, expanding insured access to a total of 137 million people. It also runs the Equip Academy, an accredited platform that offers specialized training presentations to thousands of clinicians to treat conditions for which there are only an estimated 5,000 specialists nationwide.

In August, the company raised $47 million in new funding. Actress Kerry Washington became a Equip investor and advisor last February.

Eating disorder advocates reached a key public policy achievement in 2025, the first Congressional language requesting schools across the country include eating disorder prevention in their wellness policies and the U.S. Department of Agriculture monitor the progress.
