After observing the complex bureaucracy and poor service that bank customers faced on a daily basis in Brazil, Junqueira co-founded Nubank with David Velez, which has evolved into one of the largest digital financial services platforms in the world with more than 127 million customers across Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia.
The company is now entering its next phase of growth and internationalization, and Junqueira, as the CEO of its emerging U.S. business, has been overseeing the banking charter process.
In January, Nubank received conditional approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, another step towards its goal of expanding its operational footprint and product offerings in the United States.
