American Express Centurion® Lounges are known for their luxe amenities, including complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, shower suites, semi-private workstations, relaxation rooms and a robust menu of seasonal food and craft cocktails.
Amex also recently opened a new style of airport lounge called Sidecar by The Centurion Lounge, which shares most of the same access rules as Centurion Lounges, but with a tighter entry window of just 90 minutes before your flight.
Like Capital One lounges and Chase Sapphire lounges, you can only enter if you have the right American Express card. Here's what you need to know about accessing Amex's premium airport lounges.
American Express Centurion Lounge guide
How to access Amex Centurion and Sidecar Lounges
To enter any American Express Centurion or Sidecar Lounge, you'll need a same-day boarding pass. You can only access these lounges before you fly or during a layover if you have a connecting flight; you can't enter a Centurion Lounge after you've reached your final destination. You must also be able to produce a valid government-issued photo I.D. and the eligible card associated with your membership, unless you are a guest of a current cardholder, where you'll still have to pay a fee.
Children ages two and under get in free with a qualifying parent who can show a "lap infant" boarding pass or proof of their child's age.
For Centurion Lounges, you can access them within three hours of your flight's departure, while Sidecar Lounges (designed for shorter visits) can be accessed up to 90 minutes before departure. Neither of these lounges allows you to reserve a spot ahead of time — entry is based on capacity, and access to some amenities is based on availability. You also won't be allowed in if you have a standby ticket, unless you can show a boarding pass with a confirmed seat or assigned zone.

Note, however, that the rules vary by lounge regarding how many guests you're allowed to take with you and whether their entry is also complimentary. Additionally, to access Delta Sky Clubs, you'll have to be traveling on a same-day flight that is operated or marketed by Delta Air Lines.
Paid access
Due to the exclusivity of these lounges, you won't be able to enter unless you are a qualifying cardholder or a guest of one.
Centurion cardholders can bring their immediate family (spouse, partner and children under 18) or up to two guests free of charge to any Centurion Lounge or Escape Lounge.
Amex Platinum and Business Platinum cardholders can bring two free guests to Escape Lounge locations, but have to pay $50 per guest ($30 per child ages 2 to 17) at Centurion Lounge & Sidecar by The Centurion® Lounge locations. Consumer and business Platinum cardmembers can qualify for two complimentary guest passes per Centurion Lounge visit after spending at least $75,000 on the card within a calendar year. Once earned, that complimentary guest access will be valid through January of the second calendar year. (If you earned it by Nov. 1, 2025, it would be active through Jan. 31, 2027).
Those with a Delta SkyMiles Reserve Card can bring up to two guests per visit by paying a fee of $50 per person per visit ($30 per child between two and 17 years old; children under two are free) as long as you're all traveling on a same-day flight that is being operated or marketed by Delta Air Lines. Delta SkyMiles Reserve card members may bring guests to Escape Lounge locations but will pay the per-visit fee that the specific lounge charges.

Can you pay to get into the Centurion Lounge?
In short, no; you can't simply pay for general access to American Express Centurion or Sidecar Lounges. However, if you're a guest of a qualifying cardholder, depending on their status, you can either get in for free or be required to pay a fee of $30 (ages two to 17) or $50 (18 years or older).
