11 valuable credit card welcome bonuses ending soon: Earn $1,000+ in travel with the top offers

Several of these offers match the highest we've ever seen for the card.

When searching for your next credit card, consider waiting until you can take advantage of an increased welcome bonus. Not every rewards card offers a welcome bonus (or a limited-time increased bonus), but those that do can earn you hundreds of dollars in additional value if you apply at the right time and meet the spending requirements.

Below, we highlight the best credit card welcome bonuses that are set to expire soon.

New limited-time welcome bonus: New Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders can earn 150,000 bonus points after spending $6,000 on purchases within the first three months from account opening.

Typical welcome bonus: Earn 125,000 bonus points after you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.

CNBC Select's take: This is the biggest welcome offer we've ever seen for this card. When you consider what is effectively a once-per-lifetime restriction on earning the Sapphire Reserve's welcome bonus, that makes this the best time to apply.

This is a premium credit card with a big annual fee and a massive array of perks to match. If you have any travel plans within the next year, it shouldn't be hard to justify applying. Not only are Chase points useful for booking flights and hotels, but you can take advantage of a $300 annual travel credit as well as credits for hotels, DoorDash, dining, StubHub, Lyft, Peloton and more.

Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority

New limited-time welcome bonus: Earn 90,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 within the first three months from account opening.

Typical welcome bonus: Earn 50,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 in the first three months.

CNBC Select's take: You can only earn a consumer Southwest credit card welcome bonus once every 24 months. So if you want to earn the biggest bonus and can justify this card's annual fee, the Southwest Priority is a great option. Not only does the welcome bonus help you qualify for a Southwest Companion Pass, but so do the rewards you earn from spending (and the annual 7,500 bonus points).

Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier

New limited-time welcome bonus: Earn 85,000 bonus points after spending $2,000 within the first three months from account opening.

Typical welcome bonus: Earn 50,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 in the first three months.

CNBC Select's take: If you want a lower annual fee than what the Southwest Priority card charges ($149 vs. $229), the Southwest Premier card can make sense. It has many of the same features as the Priority card, just slightly downgraded. The welcome bonus and annual points bonus are a bit lower, and you earn elite status credit at a slower pace.

Southwest Rapid Rewards Plus

New limited-time welcome bonus: Earn 80,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 within the first three months from account opening.

Typical welcome bonus: Earn 50,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 in the first three months.

CNBC Select's take: This is the most affordable consumer Southwest card, but it features a welcome bonus that is only 10,000 points less than the Priority card, which costs $130 more. It doesn't help you earn Southwest elite status, but you'll still have key perks such as free first checked bags, 10,000 Companion Pass qualifying points each year and Group 5 boarding.

Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® Card

New limited-time welcome bonus: Earn 100,0000 bonus miles and a 25,000-point Global Companion Award after spending at least $6,500 on purchases in the first 90 days of account opening. Plus, receive a 50% flight discount code for a future eligible flight after opening your account.

Typical welcome bonus: Previous welcome offers for this card allowed you to earn 80,000 points after spending $4,000 within the allotted time.

CNBC Select's take: The Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite Card is a truly unique premium credit card. While this bonus alone makes it worth considering, it also offers perks you won't get with other luxury cards, such as 3X points on foreign transactions (with no foreign transaction fees), an instant $50 credit for flight delays and cancellations of two hours or more, waived same-day change fees and waived partner award booking fees.

Capital One Venture Business

New limited-time welcome bonus: Earn up to 150,000 bonus Capital One miles. Receive 75,000 bonus miles once you spend $7,500 on purchases within the first three months of account opening and an additional 75,000 bonus miles once you spend $30,000 in the first six months from account opening.

Typical welcome bonus: This card used to be the Capital One Spark Miles for Business, and it typically featured a welcome offer worth 50,000 bonus miles after spending $4,500 in the first three months from account opening.

CNBC Select's take: While this is largely the same card as before the rebrand, there are two key differences that make this version better. You can earn up to $100 back each year with two new benefits that offset the $95 annual fee. Earn up to $50 in travel credit for Capital One Business Travel bookings and up to $50 in credit for qualifying advertising or software purchases. While the old version of this card offered welcome bonuses worth up to 150,000 miles, it typically required significantly more spending to earn the full bonus.

Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card

New limited-time welcome bonus: Limited Time Offer: Earn up to 150,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points and a $125 statement credit after spending $8,000 in purchases on your new card the first six months of card membership. Offer ends July 15, 2026.

Typical welcome bonus: This card normally features a welcome offer of 125,000 points after spending $8,000 within six months, and we also occasionally see offers for three to five Free Night Awards (worth up to 50,000 points each).

CNBC Select's take: While the offer doesn't have the potential value of a five-free-night bonus (since they're worth up to 50,000 points each), it may be more appealing to some people. The Free Nights Awards you can earn from a welcome offer expire after a year, and you won't always get the full 50,000 points of value from each free night. With 150,000 points, you have more flexibility in how you use your points, plus the statement credit offsets the card's $125 annual fee (see rates and fees).

Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card

New limited-time welcome bonus: Earn 175,000 Bonus Points after spending $6,000 in purchases on the card within the first six months of card membership. Offer ends July 29, 2026.

Typical welcome bonus: Earn 150,000 Bonus Points after spending $6,000 on purchases in the allotted time.

CNBC Select's take: This offer is only 5,000 points less than the biggest bonus we've seen available with this card. Before you apply, carefully consider the card's benefits, as it has a $550 annual fee you'll need to justify (see rates and fees). Anyone who frequents Hilton properties won't have a hard time finding enough value to offset the cost.

For starters, you receive a Free Night Reward your first year and every year after you renew the card. You can earn up to two additional free nights every year if you hit certain spending thresholds within that year ($30,000 for the first free night and $60,000 total for the second free night), so it's a great option for big spenders. You can also receive over $800 in credits each year for CLEAR+, flights and Hilton Resorts.

Hilton Honors American Express Card

New limited-time welcome bonus: Earn 100,000 Bonus Points and a $100 statement credit after spending $2,000 on eligible purchases on your Hilton Honors American Express Card within your first six months of card membership. Offer ends July 29, 2026.

Typical welcome bonus: Earn 80,000 Bonus Points after spending $2,000 on purchases in the allotted time.

CNBC Select's take: This welcome bonus is 25% higher than the standard offer — and don't underestimate the value of the statement credit. Most miles and points experts value Hilton points at 0.5 cents each or less, so you could look at the $100 statement credit as having roughly the same value as 20,000 Hilton points.

If the Hilton Aspire and its big annual fee (see rates and fees) doesn't make sense for you, this no-annual-fee card is a great option (see rates and fees).

IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card

New limited-time welcome bonus: Earn up to 185,000 Bonus Points: Earn 150,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. Plus, earn an additional 35,000 bonus points after spending $6,000 in the first six months.

Typical welcome bonus: Earn 140,000 Bonus Points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening.

CNBC Select's take: The IHG One Rewards Premier card has previously offered a more valuable benefit: five free nights. However, this is the largest points bonus we've seen for this card, which has a couple of advantages.

First, free nights typically expire after a year, but IHG points never expire if you have elite status (you get complimentary Platinum status as a cardholder). Eligible IHG cardholders can also take advantage of a 4th-night-free benefit: Receive every 4th night free when you book a stay of four or more nights with points. This can be especially lucrative on longer stays because you can receive more than one night free (i.e., the 8th night is free, etc.). However, the 4th-night-free benefit doesn't apply to stays booked with free night certificates.

Earning a credit card welcome bonus is the easiest way to boost your rewards balance, and many of the top offers can earn you 100,000 points or more. But some issuers limit you to earning a welcome offer once per credit card per lifetime, which makes waiting for increased intro bonuses a valuable move to maximize your return.

Minimum spending requirement

Most credit cards don't award you a welcome bonus upon approval; instead, you have to spend a certain amount within a limited timeframe (usually three months or more). Be sure you can meet the minimum spending requirement within the allotted time and pay off the balance. If you can't, you risk losing out on your bonus or accumulating expensive credit card debt.

Value compared to the standard offer

Don't just consider the bonus's value; look at the value compared to its standard offer. For example, if the card historically offers a 75,000-point bonus but is currently featuring a lower, limited-time offer, you may want to hold off on applying.

This is especially important for cards with welcome bonus limitations. If you really want to earn Hilton points, for example, you'll want to apply for a Hilton credit card when the intro bonus is at or near an all-time high is ideal. This is because you're typically limited to earning an American Express welcome offer once per lifetime.

Type of rewards

Comparing limited-time welcome bonuses can be difficult. Outside of cash back, no two rewards have the exact same value or usefulness. It's important to think about what you can do with a bonus and consider how it aligns with what you want to do.

This is a bit more straightforward with co-branded cards since you know you'll use Marriott Bonvoy points at a Marriott location. But with flexible travel rewards programs, you'll need to look at the transfer partners and other redemption options to get a feel for what you can do with that offer.

FAQs

Fees and interest charges typically do not count toward meeting your credit card's minimum spending requirement. This includes the annual fee.

The timeframe for meeting a credit card's minimum spending requirement and earning its welcome bonus starts when you are approved for the card. That means if your card doesn't offer instant access, you'll have less time than you think to meet the spending requirement, as it can take a week or two to receive your card in the mail.

Welcome bonus rewards typically post to your account after the close of the billing cycle where you met the minimum spending. If you meet your spending requirement on the fifth day of the month and your statement closes on the 25th day of the month, you most likely won't receive your rewards until after the 25th.
