Inside the new Capital One Landing at LaGuardia Airport (LGA): Here's how to get in

The Capital One Spark Miles for Business card is no longer available for new applicants.

Capital One has officially opened its second Capital One Landing at LaGuardia Airport (LGA).

Spanning 12,500 square feet, this lounge is over double the size of Capital One's first location in Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) near Washington, D.C. The new space will serve as Capital One's flagship Landing location, created in collaboration with the José Andrés Group.

Capital One Landings, a separate concept from the company's more traditional airport lounges, are generally designed for shorter-haul domestic flights and focus on elevated dining experiences. Whether you want a full meal or a pre-flight snack, you can expect authentic tapas paired with cocktails created by Chef José Andrés and his team.

If you're ever looking to kill time in the LaGuardia airport with a gourmet bite, anyone willing to pay a fee can enjoy the experience — but certain Capital One cardholders qualify for free entry.

Food and beverages

The LGA Landing dining experience was created with busy travelers in mind: You'll be greeted by a host, checked in and seated at a table. From there, you can choose from prepared small plates at two different tapas stations (one at the circular bar toward the entrance and another on the terrace), order a drink and enjoy a selection of self-service coffee and teas. You can also request made-to-order dishes and beverages via a QR code at your table.

In addition to the Spanish-style tapas, there's a fairly robust main menu, with options like carne asada con mojo verde and a mango and coconut sticky rice for dessert. Several ingredients will be sourced directly from Spain for a more authentic experience, including jamón and olive oil.

The Capital One Landing at LGA features a bar with a number of wines, beers and cocktails, notably "Ben Franklin's Milk Punch"; don't worry, the milk is filtered out. You're more than welcome to choose from several of their non-alcoholic options, as well. (The "Flamingo Shuttle" was the talk-of-the-town when I visited.) Beverages can be ordered directly at the bar or by scanning your table's QR code.

One aspect of Capital One lounges that combines both food and aesthetics is its "Daily Rituals" experience. These roaming bar carts bring interactive table-side moments to your visit and rotate their food and drink offerings throughout the day.

At this Landing location, the carts feature savory rituals (caviar cones and Vermouth), cocktail rituals (martinis, gin and tonics and mimosas) and dessert rituals (Basque cheesecake, caramel tarts, fruit and flan).

Layout, aesthetics and other offerings

The new Capital One Landing at LGA features floor-to-ceiling windows with a sweeping view of the Manhattan skyline. It also offers an expansive terrace area with 30-foot ceilings and skylights.

In addition to the local art throughout the Landing, the lounge showcases a 30-foot mural designed by New York-based artist Amrita Marino. The piece portrays the shared act of dining together and aims to capture the smaller moments where people's lives intersect.

Beyond aesthetics, the lounge meets travelers' immediate needs with charging ports at every seat and special luggage storage.

If you're interested in spending time at either Capital One Landing location, you have a few options. You don't have to hold a Capital One credit card to enter, but card membership has its perks.

Capital One cardholders

If you're a primary cardholder of the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card or Capital One Venture X Business Credit Card, you receive unlimited complimentary access to all Capital One Landing locations and can bring guests for a discounted rate of $45.

If you spend more than $75,000 across your account during a calendar year, you'll gain the ability to bring one complementary guest along with you. It's important to note that these perks are only available to the primary cardholder; for each authorized user, you'll have to pay $125 to retain your access to Capital One Landings.

Capital One Venture X and Venture X Business cardholders arriving for an initial departure or a connecting flight can also reserve a spot in the lounge ahead of time through the Capital One mobile app. All Capital One rewards cardholders can see the Landings' real-time capacity, which can help you plan ahead rather than waiting at the door upon arrival.

Paid access

One nice aspect of Capital One lounges is that you don't have to be a cardholder to enter, but it will cost you $90 per visit (kids two and under enter for free). You'll also need a boarding pass for a same-day departing flight, and you can enter up to three hours before departure.

If you own either the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card or Capital One Spark Miles for Business, you and any guests traveling with you can receive a 50% discount on your entry fees, costing just $45 each per visit. Guests 17 and under can enter for $25 per visit per guest, and children under two have free entry.
