On Wednesday, Apple released its newest laptop: the MacBook Neo, a lightweight and relatively cost-effective way to hop into Apple's ecosystem. Neo is currently available for preorder, with full availability starting March 11.
Apple devices aren't cheap, and even the company's more affordable products can still represent a sizable purchase. Thankfully, the right credit card can help you cover the cost with added perks. You could earn a valuable welcome bonus, protect your new device with purchase protection or cell phone insurance, take advantage of a 0% intro APR offer or earn cash back or travel rewards on your purchase.
Below, we break down how much the new MacBook Neo costs, alongside credit cards that could help you get more value out of your Apple purchases.
How much is the new MacBook Neo?
The MacBook Neo comes in four distinctive colors (silver, blush, indigo and citrus), and you can choose from two separate models, with some minor differences in features:
- 256GB MacBook Neo with Magic Keyboard: Starting at $599
- 512GB MacBook Neo with Magic Keyboard and Touch ID: Starting at $699
Even if you choose the least expensive model, this large purchase can help you quickly meet the minimum spending requirement for a variety of cash back credit card welcome bonuses.
You can also finance your laptop purchase with Apple Card Monthly Installments, which features 0% APR financing on eligible Apple products and splits the cost into monthly payments (typically 12 months for Macs). We'll get more into that below.
If you're eligible for Apple's education pricing, which is available to current and incoming college students, their parents and teachers of all grade levels, you can get $100 off either of these two Neo models.

Best for extended warranty or purchase protection
Separate from ongoing cell phone protection, some cards offer extended warranty and purchase protection. One of the best cards for this type of coverage is the Chase Sapphire Reserve® (see rates and fees).
If an item purchased with the Sapphire Reserve is damaged or stolen within 120 days of purchase or delivery, you may be eligible for repair or replacement. You're covered for up to $10,000 per claim, up to $50,000 per year. Even better, there's no deductible when taking advantage of these benefits.
Additionally, you'll receive an extended manufacturer's warranty for an additional year beyond the provided manufacturer's warranty (for warranties of three years or less). So in the event of a covered failure after one year of ownership, the cost to repair or replace your Apple product is covered up to the amount you charged to your Sapphire Reserve card (or $10,000, whichever is less).

Consider a shopping portal to earn more points
If you regularly make Apple purchases or plan to make an expensive purchase in the near future, there's an additional way to earn even more rewards — and it's extremely simple.
You can use a shopping portal, or a website that earns bonus cash back, points or airline miles by buying the same product (at the same price) simply using their link. There's just one big caveat: Apple's newest releases are typically ineligible to earn rewards, so this will likely only work for slightly older models.
For example, at the time of writing, the Delta SkyMiles shopping portal is 1 bonus mile per dollar spent on purchases from the Apple Store. Another example is Rakuten, which offers 2% cash back on your Apple purchases. However, that rewards rate only applies to accessories, Apple Refurbished products, AppleCare+ and Beats, excluding some of the most popular (and more expensive) products.
To take advantage of this, head to your preferred shopping portal, search for the merchant you'd like to shop from — in this case, Apple — and click through to be redirected to its website. Place your order as you normally would and then check back a few days later for the rewards to post.
