How to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points

To transfer Chase points, you'll need to log in to your Chase Ultimate Rewards account. If you have multiple cards that earn Ultimate Rewards points, you'll need to select the account you'd like to transfer points from.

Then, follow these steps:

Click on the "Travel" drop-down menu and select "Transfer points to partners."

Chase

On the next page, you'll see a list of all the eligible airlines and hotels you can transfer points to. Before you can transfer points, you'll need to enroll in the loyalty program and link that program to your Ultimate Rewards account.

Once that's done, click on the program you want to transfer points to and you'll be brought to a page that details all of the rules for transfers to that program. From this page, click the "Transfer Points" button at the bottom.

Chase

The terms state it can take up to seven days for a transfer to complete, but in practice, most transfers are nearly instantaneous. You can transfer points in 1,000-point increments and all partners have a 1:1 transfer ratio.

You can transfer points to a hotel or airline account under your name or the name of one authorized user on your Chase account. Choose whose account you want to transfer points to and click the "Next" button.

On the next page, enter the number of points you want to transfer and click the "Next" button, then confirm your transfer details and click "Submit."

At this point, you may be asked to verify your identity with a one-time code you'll receive through text or a phone call. On the final page, you'll receive an order number you can keep for reference in case there are any issues with your transfer.

Reasons to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points

The biggest reason to transfer Chase points is to book expensive hotels and flights for fewer points. When you take advantage of the best deals available through Chase's transfer partners, you can multiply the value you receive by booking luxury hotels or international flights.

Generally, you should only transfer Chase points to an airline or hotel if you have a plan to use them. However, you may want to transfer points to your favorite program if there's a transfer bonus or if you plan to close your account and don't want to lose your rewards.

Can you transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards® points to someone else?

You can move Chase points from one Chase Ultimate Rewards® account to another Ultimate Rewards account that belongs to one member of your household. Your relationship with this person doesn't matter, as long as you both have the same address.

To be able to move points between accounts, you'll first need to call Chase to link your accounts. Once the accounts are linked, you can log in to your Ultimate Rewards account and when you combine points, that person's account will be one of the accounts you can move points to.

Bottom line

Being able to transfer Chase points gives you the ability to book higher-value awards. However, this feature isn't available with every Ultimate Rewards credit card. You'll need one of these cards to unlock Chase point transfers:
