In cybersecurity, being disruptive means continually issuing products and information to counter waves of new technology so large they can upend business models within a few months. Claude's Mythos, which rocked the financial world with its ability to exploit vulnerabilities in existing software, is a sign of how fast the industry changes.

In this hyper-competitive world and increasingly a world of AI-led threats, Abnormal AI's edge lies in products based on behavioral analysis of human action, rather than rules-based or gateway approaches that try to stop attacks before they reach people.

As an example, with the number of AI-generated attacks that come through email soaring, Abnormal AI introduced a personalized AI Phishing Coach that automatically creates content, including videos and emails, to let employees know when they may have fallen for a trap, and prepare them to fend off the next one. Its products also extend the behavioral approach to collaboration tools such as calendars and meeting apps that are increasingly cyber targets.

"We're building good AI to counter bad AI," said founder and CEO Evan Reiser in a recent interview on NYSE Floor Talk. "The humans are the weakest link."

About 25% of the Fortune 500 are clients, and Abnormal AI has recently added federal and state government agencies as customers.

The company is now turning toward building systems that analyze the behavior of agentic AIs, which also eventually may be exploited.

"Cybercriminals are already using AI to scale attacks at a level previously reserved for nation-states," Reiser said at the time of the company's rebranding to Abnormal AI from Abnormal Security last spring.

Abnormal AI has adopted the ISO standard for ethical AI as regulatory risks grow in response to increasing public backlash against automated systems.
