Volkswagen is betting its deal with EV maker Xpeng can help boost its sales in China

VW Group’s position as one of the best-selling automakers in China has been threatened by Chinese automakers that have mastered rapidly producing truly 'software defined vehicles legacy western automakers are still unfamiliar with. VW Group has already partnered with Rivian, one of the companies outside China that is most capable of developing this tech. But it’s using Xpeng in China. Some analysts think that partnership could expand. Xpeng has its own global ambitions.
