Trump's Canada tariff threat is posturing ahead of USMCA renegotiations: The Asia Group

Kurt Tong, managing partner of The Asia Group, says President Trump's threat to impose 100% tariffs on Canadian imports is not an exact number but an attempt to position himself ahead of renegotiations of the United States-Mexico-Canada free trade agreement. He also says that businesses are not de-risking from the US and the the trade truce creates an opportunity where companies can pursue investing in China more vigorously than they did in 2025.
