Why people are suddenly investing in private credit — and what the risks could be
Private credit, a form of lending by non-bank financial institutions that typically takes place outside of public markets, is growing. Now private credit firms seeking new sources of funding are turning to retail investors. While investors in private credit collect higher interest rates than they would on other debt investments, the asset class poses some risks to individual investors and the economy at large.
