Spirit Halloween has become a billion-dollar business by convincing landlords to agree to short-term leases on their 1,500 pop-up stores around the country. The retailer hires about 50,000 seasonal employees to operate the retailer's storefronts for just a few months each year. CEO Steven Silverstein has grown the company to an estimated $1 billion empire in his more than two decades with the company.
