The U.S. eats a lot of avocados. Here's why the country's production won't catch up with demand.

U.S avocado consumption has more than tripled since 2001, in part because an 83-year-old ban on Mexican imports was lifted in 1997. But as consumers demand more, U.S. production of avocados is shrinking as Mexico's dominant hold on the market continues.
