European Covid cases surge as countries desperately try to avoid lockdowns

A new wave of Covid has engulfed Europe and leaders are struggling to cope without imposing full-scale lockdowns. A number of countries have seen record high numbers of cases. Germany reported 65,000 on Thursday, while in France and the Netherlands, both countries reported over 20,000 new cases Wednesday.
