"As Seen On TV" Round 1 Concludes, Round 2 Starting Soon

Well, it was quite the battle over five days as the first round of our "As Seen On TV" bracket got underway and you voted more than 150,000 times.

The Clapper

In the Household/Automotive region, there we no upsets as all the top seeds in all the matchups advanced.

The Clapper proved a strong No. 1, trouncing the Buttoneer by a 93-7 percent margin, while current "As Seen On TV" products, the Snuggie and the Shamwow, each garnered at least 70 percent of the vote. They'll face each other in the second round, which the critics might call unfair. (Remember, the Snuggie had a predecessor in the Slanket!) The most intriguing matchup was the No. 3 seed Flowbee against the No. 14 magicJack. The Flowbee barely edged out the magicJack by the 9:30 a.m. ET deadline.

In the Kitchen/Food region, all the top seeds held again. The George Foreman Grill impressed with a 94-6 percent victory over the Donut Express. Strong showings were seen by the Ronco Showtime Rotisserie, the Magic Bullet, Jack LaLanne's Power Juicer and the Ginsu Knives.

The Bowflex

The Health/Fitness region is apparently where upsets happen. That's where the No. 14 Bowflex trumped the No. 3 seed Nordic Track. This region saw Richard Simmons advancing over Jake Steinfeld, while Life Alert had the Enzyte guy whistling his way home. With only 79 percent of the vote, the Thighmaster proved it was the weakest No. 1 and might have trouble beating a strong No. 8 seed, Hair Club For Men, in the next round.

Video Professor

The "Everything Else" region, which we really should have called "And That's Not All..." region, was the site of the other upset as Matthew Lesko (No. 10) sent Tony Robbins (No. 7) home with some free government programs and perhaps one of those "question" lab coats. I'm sure that Fred McGriff is not happy that Miss Cleo beat out Tom Emanski's Defensive Drills Video. We were surprised that the Video Professor beat out Charlton Heston as easily as he says it is to use eBay and Microsoft Word and Chia Pet proved itself as the strongest No. 2.

In a couple minutes, we'll post the second round of our "As Seen On TV" brackets.

Polls will close tomorrow, Wednesday, at 9:30 a.m. ET.
